Our new neighbourhood lead structure
October 2025 has seen the launch of some new leadership arrangements across our integrated neighbourhood teams (INTs) in Manchester and Trafford.
These arrangements see the majority of our neighbourhood leads begin working across two of our neighbourhoods each. This new structure also provides additional leadership focus and resource to the rapidly growing Manchester city centre area, and to the extensive programmes of work specifically taking place across North Manchester such as the new hospital development.
We have used this model of one neighbourhood lead working across two neighbourhood teams in Trafford and in some areas of Manchester for some time, with great success. Many of our neighbourhoods share common challenges and opportunities across their boundaries that working in this way will support.
To allow our neighbourhood leads to work in this way, we have also changed job roles slightly so our leads will focus on strategic neighbourhood work across their new remits. Day-to-day management of services like district nursing in each neighbourhood (which was previously undertaken by the neighbourhood leads in Manchester) will now be the responsibility of a new clinical leadership structure in the Local Care Organisations.
The changes do not impact on our other existing integrated neighbourhood team roles – each neighbourhood in Manchester still has its own Health Development Coordinator and GP lead roles for example.
This move is part of a wider restructure on the NHS side of Manchester and Trafford Local Care Organisations as part of changes across Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust. You can read more about this and see our new structure here.
To enable this change to happen, some of our INT leads have moved to new areas, bringing their wealth of knowledge and experience to those areas.
The INT leads and their new neighbourhood responsibilities are:
- Lizzie Hughes – Continues her role in Cheetham & Crumpsall and will also be working across Higher Blackley, Harpurhey & Charlestown
- Angela Beacon – Continues her role in Ancoats, Bradford & Clayton and will also be working across Miles Platting, Newton Heath & Moston
- Sarah Lake – Continues her role in Gorton & Levenshulme and will also be providing support across the wider North Manchester programme
- Mags Doherty – Continues her role in Ardwick & Longsight and will also be working across the Manchester City Centre neighbourhood
- John Egerton – Continues his role across Hulme, Moss Side & Rusholme and will also be working across Chorlton, Whalley Range & Fallowfield
- Annabel Hammond – Continues her role in Didsbury, Chorlton Park & Burnage and will also be working across Withington & Old Moat
- Tom Bassford – Has taken up the role across Wythenshawe (Baguley, Woodhouse Park & Sharston) and Wythenshawe (Brooklands) & Northenden – moving from his previous role in Miles Platting, Newton Heath & Moston and Manchester City Centre
These changes will bring positive benefits and are a great opportunity to continue to improve the health and well-being of people across Manchester and Trafford, carrying on the pioneering work that our neighbourhood teams carry out alongside our valued partners.
