Referrals for ADHD and Autism assessments have risen sharply in Greater Manchester, with adult waiting lists growing over 400% since 2022. Waiting times can now range from 18 months to more than seven years, creating challenges for individuals and families.

NHS Greater Manchester is introducing a new needs-led model for all ages, prioritising those with the highest clinical need. Children and young people will receive earlier, tailored support, while adults will have access to self-help tools, coaching, and peer support while waiting for formal assessments.
